I had hoped on publishing a little series called something like “coat hanger” guard but the bubble has finally burst. My sneaky moves have officially been branded illegal by a 4th degree black belt… nevermind. So I’ll run through it quickly which will let me put it to bed….
I came across this idea from playing the same principle in peoples belts (also illegal) when they have mount. I can only think the reason it is illegal is because of the pressure it can put on the knee. I have never had any problems but if you do try it please take care. It’s funny to see the look on peoples faces when they are apparently lifted off when you are underneath.
In this quick stills video Adam demonstrates the triangle and omoplata from the “hanger” on Mo.
I will leave you to figure out sweeps and more subs (which are plentiful) just dont forget its illegal in competition. Enjoy.

HAHA illegal but looks mighty fun. Will try it next session!
Mindyou, is wrapping the opponent or your belt around their neck legal?
I would say that is far more dangerous, not to say mischievous than your coat hangar techniques.
BTW. You should post about your anonymous visit to Master Edwards’ gym. News like that is prime blogging material IMO!

Thats a good idea Meerkat, I will have to go under cover again to get some photos, im thinging as a local reporter perhaps?
As for the belts im pretty sure thats illegal too but its equally fun. Make sure you try putting your foot in the belt from underneath mount (not pictured) as you will find the similarities to “Hanger” uncanny.
